The American Activities Committee of the Parliament of the United States enjoyed its heyday in the early fifties when Senator Joseph McCarthy became the President and chased activists and sympathizers including Communists in the ranks of the intelligentsia (Dashiell Hammett, Bertold Brecht, the famous black list of "ten Hollywood"). Asked by himself this commission, Arthur Miller was inspired by this era of "witch hunt" to write The Crucible. There staged another famous episode in American history: the trial namesake who, in 1692, shook a small community of New England won by a crisis of puritanical hysteria and ended in the conviction of many suspects Satanic practices and by twenty-five executions. Staged in Paris in 1955, in an adaptation of Marcel Ayme, the piece played by the couple-Yves Montand Simone Signoret enjoyed a real triumph. The Crucible brilliantly illustrates how can be easily reached - and at all times - the border between reason and madness, justice and fanaticism.

Face to face in the land of a novel translation

Brice Matthieussent the translator is confirmed by more than two hundred American fiction authors from prestigious such as Jack Kerouac, John Fante, Thomas Pynchon, Bret Easton Ellis, Charles Bukowski . Revenge of the translator with , he signed a first novel that is at once an essay, a fiction and a very playful style exercise, which are an extension of its core business.

So often the image of the translator is drowning in the author's original text, though the prose of the first is treated as a transcription of his master's voice, the translator is nevertheless an author fully capable to breathe new life into an anchor text in one language. Torn apart by a duty of loyalty vis-à-vis the progenitor of the work, and the other by the desire for creativity, the translator strives to strike a balance that suits him. The novel Brice Matthieussent meanwhile rushed into the breach of the spirit of a translator rebel who, annoyed to find themselves cornered in the bottom, forced to track the asterisks behind a host of words, to illuminate certain phrases in the unflattering name of NOW, decides to put his two cents in the work which it has responsibility. Disoriented by the questionable quality of the text to which it faces, it takes more and more freedoms vis-à-vis the author to remove up to an astronomical amount of adjectives and adverbs myriad, all deemed unnecessary by the sorcerer's apprentice. Then there are stage directions interspersed between the dialogue, as useless as the previous ones and therefore will experience the same fate. To offset the significant reduction, the translator makes the additions of his own and who, in his view, greatly enrich the subject. David Grey is capricious, cheeky, irreverent, indulging in copious criticize the work he will have to translate, interfered with the plot for the sake of a radiant nymph straight out of Nabokov's Lolita , which appears to be an avid reader, taking pleasure in concocting custom Machiavellian perfidy against Abel Prote. To slip away while responding to the call of his endless initials, the masked avenger, Zorro the literary changes its signature as a shirt, putting his turn in the Nique stealthily, the tracker of nymphets in the trap of nausea or Nique Tarzan. The translator takes his ease in the skyline confining its eccentricities, its Footnotes page becoming increasingly invasive, were escalating to the integrity of the author, lift up the thin black bar that pulls its weight on them. The center of gravity of the work moves imperceptibly, without the essential symmetry between the different actors in the making of the text is thereby provided shaken.

The Pantin Goya

But then, omniscience Elementary writer Abel Prote endangers the durability of the initiatives undertaken by the translator. The latter had the illusion of impunity is playing the father of the text reveals, despite himself, he is dependent on the chess board ordered by the author. Thus, the American translator and French author will share their own temporary apartments, situated on both sides of the Atlantic, to mislead his alter-ego who finds himself as the puppet of the Goya painting, tossing between heaven and earth. The trap goes further since both men are ultimately as the characters in a novel that incorporates one in which the two are rivals, The Revenge of the translator, like Russian dolls themselves trapped in other figures.

Beyond the complex plot to perfection, the text is peppered with allusions to the impulses of the translator who wishes to dispense with the original work. The text is found ultimately a reflection of the invisible text which vacant space on the page reinforces the fictitious weight, indicating the impossibility of total disappearance of the text which the translator tries to eliminate the traces at the scene of his crime was almost perfect.

to 69 drawers signed Goran Petrovic

Watergarden , painting by Claude Monet
We have discussed the Serbian author Goran Petrovic to mark the publication of Under a sky flaking editions The Allusifs . The temptation was too strong not to dive then in the first French translation of one of his works, when it comes to couples who lose players without moving, stories of the day racommodées taste and scent of lemon, containing a story that is full and no ceases to evade the eighth reading.

Sixty-nine drawers , many chapters in which he will first have to slip to know all the mysteries they contain. As its name suggests, this is a novel of drawers, which are all sliding doors to different readings of a book, whose luxury morocco binding of a deep red edge with works that have been used to find the time in this part of Europe. Adam Lozanitch, concealer interim review of the modest beauties of our country, is seen one day entrust the manuscript in question looks like "A story without a story, pages and pages of descriptions for a woman he had never known outside of these pages. A garden and a villa built so we can see even what is not described, they can hear sounds and you can sense smells. "Ignoring the precise function that must practice in that company, Adam tries to clear the roots of the work, travels in awaiting a response element, the aisles of a library and meets a seemingly random girl in the hat bell and mesmerizing fragrance cuddly, with whom he lived later simultaneous readings, trapped in shared by the charm of the book and the young employee.

under the pergola, painting by Oscar Bluhm

is the play of chance meetings and bookish than himself forged relationships and other ramifications of the telling Goran Petrovic unfolds, gradually, according to reminiscences and anecdotes distilled with a remarkable tale of science, and grow as a vine, indomitable in its rise, its terrible grip. The introduction to each reading dotting the text are many reasons for rejoicing, parodying some of the titles Don Quixote of Cervantes through sentences just outlined and which meet each other in a melodious ballet the most beautiful effect. Whether writing, editing, reading, everything revolves around the book is treated as an organic activity which allows remodel at will. The library is thus akin to a botanical garden, where each parcel must be attention at all times, needing to trim here or there to plant a term endangered, or turn a richly developed. Mere spectators of engraved words on the page, readers will transform themselves into full-fledged authors, inventors competing to create their own course, deciding to lower their windings through various secret passages of the book. It becomes dependent on the whims of the reader, now representing the close of his ravings, the common ground for runners the imagination of readers astray. The turmoil within the pages is done in parallel with the development of players and everything around them to serve their propensity to escape. In this infinitely open universe, the martial character of the father-of Anastasius, random noises that cross the fragile walls of the apartment of Adam are, instead, which cement ties to everyday life, which insidiously disrupt the reader's personal development.
Alongside the narrative, we witness a part of the history of Serbia, whose authentic elements mingle with fantasies of the most notorious, accentuating and the confusion inherent pages. Sometimes we wonder if this is not the past of the country that serves the characters, rather than the reverse, as in this official discourse interspersed so unwanted by the irruption of the imagination at the heart of reality. The telescoping of the two worlds can not be achieved without danger, because the strict design of the latter is not able to deceive the inexhaustible potential inherent in fiction. To preserve its sense of wonder, and the reader should ever before sinking into the pages of his destiny. The author achieves the amazing feat of making very intangible fact the border between the two worlds.

Through the figure 69, one can, among many assumptions, consider the overlap points of view, the mutuality of feelings aroused by a work, or a reversal that can stimulate important discovery in his the life of a player. Certainly, we're dealing with a highly recommendable book.

The tavern part in the collision of a triptych erotic Bathyscaphe

Bathyscaphe designed in honor of the release of No. 2 of the namesake magazine

"Finally a newspaper expensive and luxurious for people who do uninterested in the news! "
Thus
The self-proclaimed Bathyscaphe , journal heterogeneous, cosmopolitan and anachronistic that beat sales records around the world. we presented in the tavern there is little achievements of some crew members and free electrons orbiting around. This fall the magazine launched in Quebec, against all odds literary, his sixth issue, which was hailed by The Old Observer as the most essential achievements of the past decade for fans of curiosity. I am careful to reproduce the headlines defamatory unbridled Duck, whose tone is probably due to jealousy of a rival newspaper discovered in a double page devoted to his cousin in the order Anseriformes. The tavern has conducted the survey of primary interest, Benoît Chaput to try to learn more.

BC: Before I answer I must clarify that the bathyscaphe is led by a group of four, editions Only masters aboard or Hermine Ortega, Antoine Peuchmaurd , Alexander Sanchez and myself. I can not answer questions in my own name: each promoter would probably have its own version of things, short stories vary considerably according prospects.
  • Ed: By choosing such a name for a magazine, do you plan to avert the fate, assuming that he absolutely had to run there?
I would not say it like that. In fact, it seems to me that finding a name - whether for a magazine, a conspiracy or a familiar object - is possible during a group game full of charm where chance and free associations ideas have their say. In this case, Hermine Ortega is very quickly came up with this name with its dictionary definition which we were immediately seduced. This definition, found in sub-heading for each number is: "Digital Living intended to drive monitors at great depths underwater" . We liked the idea of exploration in the area of culture. And our skiff was not afraid of being cast into confrontation because it was the bottom that was most at ease. It is true that our approach to culture is more toward the so-called "losers." Like everyone, we're not big things and not "specialists". It's as beings without qualities, "doctors in no way" that we like to observe and drift with the current submarines.

Composition of the drink called Submarino

  • As you read, it was regularly the troubling impression of dealing with a bunch of investigators who have a secular look almost naive on a minor issue, and endeavoring to consider of utmost importance, as these adventures of the subject addressing the sources of geese Craven.
This game is not worth the candle if the question "minor" after survey reveals surprising issues: like any good game, with minimal application and childish seriousness, it is possible to come to shake many certainties in the world matters "major". So this story sources geese Cravan I had initially been somewhat intimidated by the fact that Jean-Yves Bériou , the author of the chronicle "The Adventures of the subject," offers challenge of his inquiry as the very name of the publishing house that I lead. But discovering where it leads, I stayed speechless: from a drift on the words "Goose Craven," it really happens to touch the main lines of poetry: the principles of analogy, the genius of metamorphosis, the secret report of the words and the world. A look almost naive sometimes see clear through the most troubled waters.
  • How The Bathyscaphe he born?
I always liked the little magazines. Fascinated by those of avant-garde but also by contemporary magazines such as Wildebeest and Mandrill around Thierry Horguelin or Hotel Marmoset of Jimmy Gladiator. I had a great time to discover that Christian Dotremont had created several, often a single number, with numbering perfectly ridiculous. But it was during a conversation with Antoine Peuchmaurd and Valerie Webber, his girlfriend, the idea of Bathyscaphe was born. The conversation revolved around sex. Valerie, experienced and much younger than me, had opinions on the subject that shocked me somewhat. It was both his field work and academic studies. As she is English, we thought it would be interesting to do a publication with a "sex column" where it could spread its expertise in their language. I considered then to have a chronic naive in response to hers and put together our different perspectives to light. I had read in a book about its history that the Revue Blanche published chronicles and contradictory and the idea had really liked. This conversation was really the spark to start. Throughout the discussions the journal has taken a particular form: we kept the idea of a bilingual magazine, where everyone could speak their language without its text is translated. This is particularly important because Montreal is a city where we are by the two languages that are dominant in the crossroads between Europe and America. Course was added the idea of having correspondents on these continents around (New York, Toronto, Montreal, Liege, Paris, Brive, Marseille, Geneva).
  • What is the common thread?
difficult question of all! The Bathyscaphe is primarily a journal of culture out of date. That is, we are interested in culture as a resource in our lives as wholes, certainly not as fresh product that should ensure the market. We talk about books, music, architecture, poetry, environments, movies etc ... that help us live or on the contrary, we suffocate. Everyone does it their own way, by a chronicle. The Bathyscaphe is not a journal of creative writing but it is true that sometimes the border is thin. And, paradoxically perhaps, we encourage the creation of our visual designers and photographers. In fact, The Bathyscaphe formed by the currents. It is often difficult to define but each issue looks at Bathyscaphe and like nothing else!
  • What is the relationship between it and the Goose Craven?
can read in the bear's Bathyscaphe that the journal is published "by Only editions masters on board in collaboration with Craven's Goose ". This means especially that I am responsible for the layout of the newspaper. I am the editor geese Cravan and founding member of the committee Editorial Bathyscaphe. It is therefore extremely close, but the relationship stops there. In fact, the bathyscaphe is a financially and editorially independent geese Cravan . But here, as elsewhere , borders are often blurred happily.

Bathyscaphe Archimedes stamp of 1963 designed and engraved by Albert Decaris
  • Taking into account just the financial aspect of the business, how can we today have the audacity to launch a magazine?
must undoubtedly a joyous unconsciousness. The fact is that the quest for fuel to run the propeller is very difficult. Voluntarily operated without subsidies, no advertising, there are only subscriptions and direct sales to take us forward. To date we have managed to keep the price of newsstand sales at $ 5 for America and 5 euros for Europe. And subscriptions at $ 20 or 25 euros. That is barely enough to put the stamp on the envelope and we'll have to resolve to rise somewhat in price. But we believe in the value of the luxury of a submarine traveling in an envelope postmarked. For some, including us, life is only offered by the breaches of this kind belongs to the slow luxury submarine post.

Dental Hygienejobs Toronto

signed Leo Barthe

Despite my painstaking research done on the net, I have found that From the Life of a bitch , published by triptych Climates, is rare enough to be reported, has in all likelihood not left the slightest trace of any chronic. Yet it is certainly a representative work of erotic art by Leo Barthe that invites us to discover a series of stories narrated by the innkeeper, after meeting ineffable just made a traveler within a domain located at the edge of the dream.
Each stage except the first, is narrated indirectly through another character, thus adding to the uncertainty inherent in some detail as one might think from scratch to invent to entertain the listener and strengthen its immersion. We quickly understand that the actions of the actors that dot these stories follow a force that exceeds, as if they were not quite master of their actions, as if caught exposed should be offset by a fundamental innocence, symbolically represented by anonymous female figures who cross the narrative.
By using his pen name erotic Jacques Bee expresses the need for his characters to tell what can not be said face to keep a certain distance vis-à-vis particularly embarrassing situations, retain their essential integrity . Whether a veil, mask, darkness, or the position of the body, a mediator tries invisible, it seems, by his sense of staging, conceal the identity of women. In its indecent to show that the circumstances that require some discretion, the body acquires an autonomy which enables it to borrow the features of the face, and seize and the expressive potential that is usually reserved:
"Your conduct always, the pleasure you experience in your nakedness, fragrances, silent messages that emanate consistent with your skin, wear out your desire to that of anyone who lights you encounter. Yet never has exploded so your obscenity. Stretch your legs on both sides of your chest trying to curl in on itself as opposed to close your mouths. In this movement that maintain links to its point of extreme tension, raise your hips your ass and taunted the sky. Greatly widen your buttocks and the top is a hollow hole that punctuates your shame. You show it with mad insolence. I talk to him and the breath of my voice caresses his dark creases. " ( History of the Good )

Antoine Wiertz , Woman Reading a novel (1853)

The inability to fully embrace the submissive woman, far from eroding violence of desire, it multiplies the contrary, in order to overcome this additional waiting, the need to revive at any time of day and night the haunting images, captured by stealth the subject of fantasies. Behind a bush, through a door ajar or outlet hidden behind a painting, decoration contributes to the cyclic process of desire, which arises at the time of the exhibition, embodies the passivity of the observer lurking in the shadows. It is also not a coincidence that the first narrative, one that opens History of the shepherdess, is introduced following the table that is indecent to watch the traveler visiting the tenant of inn. This inability to be an actor creates a frustration that can not be completely curbed. Thus, the woman symbolizes the temptation of the moment ardently desired where the roles are reversed, in which the viewer becomes the actor finally satisfy his urges without the knowledge of those who played before him. Constantly changing, the protagonists are a predominant part of their development to be able to slip in turn in the skin of different roles, which may reveal new perspectives for their entertainment. In History good, there is first the transformation bitch, dictated by the owner of the house. The first also grabbed the student newspaper to live past events on the other side of the mirror. Thereafter, it will wish to transform the young man in sex slave for the pleasure of ownership dominate. In History cleared, the master places organize parties where he left his wife to thank you for its guests to discover a new angle. By giving his story to the scribe, the accomplice makes good games rules she contrives to make it exciting to relive all the more intensely his secret life.
"My power is such that it lets do it with a passivity that excites . ", declares the good become emancipated by guiding the painter's model who has focused its services.

A fortiori, the author anticipates the reader's participation, which will also interfere in place of one or another of his creations to enjoy fully pages that are available.
The composers of this score erotic spin a tumultuous concerto is not without consequences in a parallel dimension, but with unknown However, all the ins and outs. In History good, the ability to concentrate the student will fluctuate depending on the evolution of his nocturnal adventures. The latter exclaims: "Against all reason I have the feeling of throwing a dark curse with catastrophic swiftness of a sorcerer's apprentice. "
In History shepherd, the farmer makes the final decision to seek remuneration for services rendered before a coat in exchange for crude and meager provisions. Finally in History stamped , good draws his release sexual material to create the innovative fabric of its existence, allowing it to become itself the architect of his happiness.

The elegance of the writing is regularly hampered by the brutality of the language used to realize the full extent of the scenes mentioned, resulting in contrast to the less eloquent.
The aim of these stories lies largely outside the erotic scenes in the initiation of perpetual imagination of the reader who must, in order to enjoy the very substance of the work, guess the convergence fates, relationships that develop between them, and face the dark sides of the story being hatched behind the scenes story behind the housing abyss cleverly developed.

  • to see: In climates in the collection Climax Of Life a bitch, erotic trilogy Leo Barthe, including History of the Shepherdess (2002, published also in pocket), History good (2002) and History of postage (2003).
